MacArts welcomed one of the UK’s biggest comedy stars this month as Alan Carr performed an intimate, sold-out show in Galashiels.
The performance, attended by just 150 people, sold out in an astonishing two minutes, with lucky ticket holders enjoying a rare opportunity to see Alan test out brand-new material in the unique setting of one of Scotland’s most respected (& award winning) small venues.
The evening wasn’t just a memorable one for comedy fans. It was also a fantastic showcase of what Galashiels has to offer. A number of local businesses came together to provide gifts and support during Alan’s visit, with the comedian said to be genuinely overwhelmed by the warm welcome and generosity he received from the town.
Following the show, the team at MacArts paid tribute to the many people who make evenings like this possible, saying:
"We had a fabulous time with Alan Carr! A special shout out to everyone who puts in to make shows like this happen. Between the headline act, supports, booking agents, promoters, our staff, security, sound engineers, volunteers and directors, we are so proud to be part of an ecosystem that makes small venues what they are!"
Bringing a household name like Alan Carr to a venue the size of MacArts is no small achievement and highlights the growing reputation the venue has built within the live entertainment industry.
Congratulations to everyone at MacArts and all those who worked behind the scenes to make such a special evening happen. Here’s to many more unforgettable nights in the heart of Galashiels.
