Jonathan Packer founded Border Computing on the 5th of August 1995. The original shop was located at 92 High Street before relocating to Market Square 28 years ago, giving it a more central presence within the town.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the business a complete refit of the inside and outside of the premises has begun. New flooring is already in place with interior shop fitting is coming very soon.
Our primary services remain supplying, supporting, repairing and upgrading Laptops, PC’s, Apple Mac devices phones and tablets. We have many businesses and public customers from all parts of the Borders and further afield, including Dumfrieshire and the Lothians
For many customers we also build PCs to their specific requirements providing a more bespoke service, this has been a differentiator for us over the years and it is very satisfying to be able to provide customers with a quality product delivering exactly what they need.
On a funnier note I remember about 10 years ago an elderly lady who had lived in Galashiels all of her life coming into the shop and saying “oh have you stopped selling fish then”
For me, the business turning 30 has demonstrated that hard work and persistence pays off, we always have to be forward thinking and change along with the fast paced tech industry. I want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of our customers over the last 30 years and also to my team, Phil and Matt, with their hard work, dedication and knowledge Border Computing can continue to move forward in a positive direction and deliver the high quality service and products that it is known for.
