Congratulations to Memribelia, the Galashiels Academy Young Enterprise team, who won the Galashiels SOUP event on the 26th of September with their fantastic business idea! Competing alongside other local start-ups, the team impressed the audience to win £250 in funding to help get their idea off the ground.
The Young Enterprise programme gives S5–S6 pupils the chance to run a real business over the school year, competing with other schools while gaining hands-on experience in entrepreneurship.
This year’s Galashiels team, Memribelia, are creating products that celebrate the nostalgia and community spirit of the town – particularly as the old high school moves to its new campus. They’ve already made a strong start by winning the Galashiels SOUP prize money and securing their first sales.
The next Galashiels SOUP takes place at Café Recharge on the 27th of November, and we can’t wait to see which local project takes the spotlight next!
