Alice Mary Cooper presents her new show “The Bush”
Writer, actor and theatre-maker Alice Mary Cooper presents her new show “The Bush”
Recalling the true story of thirteen 1970’s ‘housewives’ who battled for 10 years to save a bushland in my native Sydney, The Bush is a timely celebration of community action that will entertain & empower.
Alice Mary Cooper is an English-born, Australian-raised and Scotland-based artist. She grew up on the land of the Wallamagatal people of the Eora Nation. It is Aboriginal land: always was, always will be. She makes work for all ages and is passionate about using her arts practice to create a more sustainable future, ideally making people smile in the process.
Echoing the environmental and community themes of the show, Alice and the team will be hopfooting on bikes and trains to bring the show to community run spaces, green spaces, botanic gardens and theatres across Scotland this summer before it opens at Summerhall from 16-28 August, as part of the Made in Scotland programme this Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2022.
These shows are the most local to you, with full tour details available at alicemarycooper.co.uk. An outdoor solo theatre performance with highly physical storytelling and text in English, for those aged roughly 14+. Ticket details are below and I’ve attached a flyer and image.
