A local youth work organisation recently received funding from the Galashiels-based charity Hayward Sanderson Trust to help organise a range of community events for their 10th anniversary.
TD1 Youth Hub have been working with young people aged 11 to 25 for a decade, engaging with them through various projects at different stages of their lives.
For their anniversary, the organisation is supporting young people in putting on a community event each month.
These events range from litter picks and care home visits to fundraising for other community groups, all with the aim of doing something positive for everyone involved.
Douglas Ormston, Manager of TD1 Youth Hub, said: “It’s important for young people to get the chance to get involved and build relationships.
“And these events will have a positive impact on the community as a whole, not just for our young people, because it’s all about supporting each other and giving back.”
The Hayward Sanderson Trust have been supporting the youth organisation for a few years now and were very happy to help fund their 10th anniversary celebrations.
Malcolm Lindsay, Trustee for Hayward Sanderson Trust, said: “It’s been fantastic to see TD1 Youth Hub expand, and we are delighted to be able to support their activities.”
The recent £5,000 grant will enable TD1 Youth Hub to make all the community events free for anyone to attend.
The money will also allow for a youth worker to support the young people involved in getting accreditation for their volunteering through the Saltire Awards.
The Hayward Sanderson Trust encourage any organisations concerned with the provision of social, educational, or recreational welfare to apply to them for funding.
Malcolm Lindsay added: “While we give funding to organisations nationwide and throughout the Borders, we are particularly pleased to receive applications from local community organisations in Galashiels and its immediate area.”
