Gala Fairydean Rovers have secured a place in this season’s KDM Evolution Trophy – a significant achievement for a non-league football club and fantastic recognition for the work taking place both on and off the pitch.
The competition, formerly known as the League Challenge Cup, features clubs from the Scottish Championship, League One and League Two. This season, just ten places were made available for non-league clubs, with selection based not only on facilities but also on the strength of each club’s community engagement programme.
Gala Fairydean Rovers’ successful application is a testament to the incredible work of the Gala Fairydean Rovers Community Trust, whose impact extends far beyond first-team football. The Trust supports a wide range of programmes including women’s and girls’ football, para and disability football, over-50s walking football, amateur football, as well as youth and junior football involving hundreds of local children.
The achievement reflects the dedication of the hundreds of players, coaches and volunteers who give their time each week to make football accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities across the Borders.
The Community Trust was established in 2020, building on foundations laid in 2013, with the ambition of creating a football club at the heart of the community. Being recognised as one of Scotland’s leading non-league clubs for community engagement is a milestone that highlights just how far the organisation has come.
Participation in the KDM Evolution Trophy will not only provide Gala Fairydean Rovers with the opportunity to compete against clubs from higher divisions but will also bring valuable financial benefits and further raise the profile of both the club and the town.
Congratulations to everyone involved in Gala Fairydean Rovers Community Trust.
