Galashiels Hosts the First-Ever Scottish Borders Pride March

Galashiels made a little bit of history last month as the town hosted the first-ever Scottish Borders Pride march.

The town was filled with colour as people came together from across the Borders and beyond to take part in the parade, show their support and enjoy a day of events and entertainment.

More than 450 people took part in the parade, with hundreds more lining the route to watch and show their support. An estimated 800 people also came through the doors of the Volunteer Hall for stalls and live entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Fay Sinclair, Chair of Scottish Borders Pride, said: “It was amazing to see so much colour and so many smiling faces about the town all day for the first ever Scottish Borders Pride.

“This event was about visibility, inclusivity and community, and Galashiels offered a perfect welcome to those attending from near and far.

“We were absolutely blown away by the turnout. Pride was a joyful event that fostered a real sense of belonging and we’re just delighted that so many people came out to celebrate with us.”

A huge congratulations to Fay and the Scottish Borders Pride team, as well as all the volunteers, performers, organisations, businesses and supporters who helped make the first event such a success.
