Getting to Galashiels

Galashiels is perfectly situated at the heart of the rural Scottish Borders, yet well connected to the national road network and in close proximity to major cities (and their airports) including Edinburgh (1hr), Glasgow, (1hr30) Newcastle (1hr50) and Carlisle (1hr30).

The town has benefited from the reopening of the Borders Railway with a direct link to Edinburgh Waverley (50mins) which has transformed its connectivity and in doing so, has unlocked the town’s potential for growth.

Galashiels is also located on popular national cycling and walking routes, making it easily accessible whatever your chosen mode of transport.

By Road

From Edinburgh

Take the A7 (south) or Edinburgh City By-pass, A720, (east)  until you reach Sherrifhall roundabout Then take the A7, south, until you reach Galashiels. Alternatively, take the A68, south, until you reach Ravenswood round-about. Take the  A6091 Melrose bypass, west,  and join the A7 at Sunningdale round-about. Continue on A7 until you reach Galashiels.

From Glasgow

Take the M8, east until you reach the Edinburgh City By-pass (A720) until you reach Sherrifhall roundabout Then take the A7, south, until you reach Galashiels. From Newcastle

Take the A68 until it turns off at Ravenswood round-about north of Newtown St Boswells.  Take the  A6091 Melrose bypass, west,  and join the A7 at Sunningdale round-about. Continue on A7 until you reach Galashiels.

From Carlisle
Carlisle, Langholm, Hawick, Selkirk – Take the A7, north, until you reach Galashiels

By Rail
