An extremely rare moment at the 2026 BAFTAs – Robert Aramayo took home both Leading Actor and the Rising Star Award for his role in I Swear.
The film is based on the true story of Galashiels resident and Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson, shining a light on life with severe Tourette’s syndrome. During his acceptance, Robert spoke movingly, sharing his thanks and appreciation for the people of Galashiels who welcomed him so warmly while preparing for the film.
In total, I Swear picked up three BAFTAs – an incredible achievement for a story rooted right here in our town.
