The role of our communities is increasingly important as life against the backdrop of a global pandemic continues.
As we move into autumn, we’re encouraging everyone within the community to shop locally and to continue to support local businesses through the ‘Love Galashiels, Love Local’ campaign, funded by Scotland’s Towns Partnership and the Scottish Government.
Energise Galashiels Trust launched the new town brand ‘Galashiels, Heartland of the Borders’ earlier this year and want to celebrate that, alongside this campaign, by bringing people together to showcase what the town has to offer, including the wide range of businesses, community groups, sports clubs, charities and other local organisations who collectively support the town and the shared vision for its future.
“Our ‘Love Galashiels, Love Local’ campaign supports the national initiative ‘Scotland Loves Local’ which encourages us to think local first,” says Debbie Paterson, Energise Galashiels Trust.
“The outbreak of Coronavirus has caused significant challenges for our town centres, high streets and local businesses who have lost vital trade. Now it’s time for us to get back out and show them how valued they are within our community.”
Throughout the ‘Love Galashiels, Love Local’ campaign – which runs from September to December – lookout for free giveaways, competitions and selfie opportunities with the ‘Big G’ which will be situated in the town.
