Tangled Galashiels is back on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th of May 2026, bringing a weekend of colour, creativity and community spirit to the heart of the town.

Now firmly established as a highlight in the local events calendar, Tangled attracts visitors from across the UK and beyond, with more than 1,000 ticket holders expected alongside many more coming to enjoy the atmosphere across Galashiels.

A Town Alive with Creativity

Across the weekend, Galashiels will be buzzing as venues, streets and spaces come alive with activity. From workshops and demonstrations to exhibitions and markets, there is something to discover around every corner.

It is a chance not only to enjoy the festival itself, but to explore the town, visit local shops, stop for something to eat and take in everything Galashiels has to offer.

The Fibre Market

Volunteer Hall, St John Street, Galashiels TD1 3JX

A key highlight of the weekend, the Fibre Market brings together an incredible selection of makers and creators.

From yarns and project bags to homeware and clothing, it is the perfect place to browse and shop high quality, handcrafted items. Whether you are a dedicated crafter or simply appreciate thoughtful design, the market offers something for everyone.

Access to the Fibre Market is included with your Tangled Galashiels ticket, making it an easy and essential stop during your visit.

The Fleece Market Returns

Hayward Scouts Centre, 13 St John Street, Galashiels TD1 3JX

Returning for 2026, the Fleece Market offers a unique experience for fibre enthusiasts.

Delivered in collaboration with At Birkhill House and joined by Sunshine Garden Dyeries, this was the first market of its kind in the Scottish Borders. Visitors can browse, handle and purchase fleeces from specific wool breeds, including rare varieties, all with fully traceable local provenance right down to the farm.

Community in Fibres

Hayward Scouts Centre, 13 St John Street, Galashiels TD1 3JX

The Community in Fibres area is a welcoming space open to all ticket holders, celebrating the people and skills behind fibre crafts.

Local guilds, associations and makers will be on hand to demonstrate techniques such as spinning and weaving, offering a chance to see the craft up close and learn more about the process.

It is a great opportunity to ask questions, get inspired and connect with others who share a love of textiles.

Workshops, Exhibitions and More

Beyond the markets, there is even more to explore across the town.

Workshops at Untangled Yarns Ltd offer hands on opportunities to try new skills, while an exhibition at the Great Tapestry of Scotland adds another layer to the weekend’s programme. Ticket holders can also enjoy discounted entry to visit the tapestry, making it the perfect time to experience one of Scotland’s most celebrated textile artworks.
