Town Trail

Galashiels has a rich history dating back centuries. Once at the heart of the textile industry with a large number of mills, Galashiels has evolved to become a major commercial centre in the region. Home to the Heriot-Watt School of Textiles campus and the Great Tapestry of Scotland, the town is still very much linked to its textile heritage. This trail is the perfect way to spend a day learning more about Gala’s heritage and find out about its humble beginnings.

Just follow the map and scan the QR code at each location to get more information and historic facts about each place. Make sure to use the hashtag #LoveGalashiels when sharing photos on social media!
