Our Where Christmas Comes Together campaign was certainly brought to life yesterday at our Festive Gala – a true celebration of community right in the heart of Galashiels.
Across the day, thousands of people gathered in the town centre and across the town to enjoy a fantastic programme of festive activities. From live performances and family fun to bustling market stalls and creative workshops, the whole town was filled with energy, colour, and Christmas spirit.
This year’s Festive Gala was organised by BID for Galashiels alongside a dedicated sub-committee of passionate volunteers – people who care deeply about seeing Galashiels shine. And shine it did. Their commitment, creativity, and countless hours of planning helped bring the whole community together for a memorable day.
The evening rounded off beautifully with the Christmas tree switch-on and the torchlight parade, with 1,300 torches lighting the way as crowds followed the Galashiels Pipe Band through the streets – a magical moment shared by so many.
A huge thank you to everyone involved, from organisers and volunteers to businesses and visitors. Yesterday showed exactly what makes Galashiels special: when our community comes together, something wonderful happens.
